Research Experience

Undergraduate Research Assistant, Department of Biology, Northern Arizona University, August 2024- May 2025

  • Maintained cell culture, changed media and subculture cells when they reach ~90% confluent
  • Seeding microplates from flask containing cell culture
  • Counting cells by hemocytometer to determine how many cells are in suspension before seeding a microplate
  • Freezing cells and storing them in cryopreservation for later use

Undergraduate Research Assistant, Department of Biology, Northern Arizona University, Feb 2024-May 2024/ Jan 2025-May 2025

  • Prepare fecal samples to be used in qPCR
  • Run fecal DNA samples in qPCR with different primers such as ureA and glmM to determine presence of H. pylori
  • Identified which samples were positive for H.pylori by being able to correctly interpret the data from the qPCR
  • Use qPCR to determine which virulence factor is present in each of the fecal DNA samples that tested positive for H. pylori
