Physical education is essential to promoting student's growth on all levels—physical, mental, social, and emotional. In addition to improving physical fitness, physical education also teaches life skills, develops character, and encourages healthy, long-lasting habits. Every student should feel empowered, supported, and motivated to engage and aim for development rather than perfection, regardless of their ability level. Through physical education, kids gain skills in goal-setting, problem-solving, and movement patterns. My goal is to create activities that are engaging, appropriate for each learner's skill level, and adaptable to meet every student's needs. As a physical education teacher, my ultimate goal is to provide children with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to live active, healthy, and fulfilling lives. I want to inspire them to view physical activity not as an obligation but as a lifelong opportunity for growth, connection, and happiness.
While my degree has a concentration in physical education, my eventual goal is to move into the special education field and pursue a position as an adaptive PE teacher. Every child, regardless of ability, deserves an inclusive, empowering, and purposeful education. I believe that special education is not just for addressing disabilities, but to acknowledge and celebrate each student's strengths, needs, and potential. I believe that a variety of learning approaches is advantageous. I seek to meet kids where they are and support them in realizing their fullest potential through the use of individualized accommodations, evidence-based techniques, and differentiated instruction. I support a student-centered approach in which the basis for development is relationships, mutual respect, and trust.
