- The solo internship assignment was to analyze and make recommendations for improvements to all types of city parks as to their accessibility, connectivity, consistency, and adaptability so that communities can gather more often and increase resident satisfaction
- I analyzed the purposes and numerous unique characteristics of the different types of parks in the city of Mesa
- These included Community, Metro, Neighborhood, Pocket, Regional, Retention Basins, Special Use Facilities, and Multi Use Parks
- I identified shaded walkways, trees, crosswalks and bike paths as the common set of criteria against which to evaluate each park and make specific recommendations
- I created detailed analysis of twenty-one Mesa parks that included the type of park, detailed list of amenities, characteristics, programs, planned investments and community score
- Each detailed analysis included aerial and site photographs with recommendations highlighted in specific colors and detailed geographic information such as street names
- I presented to the City of Mesa Parks and Recreation leadership, and after making minor edits, my presentation was accepted for consideration to city park planning
