Eyitayo Owolabi

I functioned as a postdoctoral fellow from August 2022 to August 2024, when I transitioned to the Assistant Professor role. In my current role, I conduct impactful research leveraging digital health technologies to facilitate diabetes self-management behaviors and outcomes for underserved populations. I am also working with key healthcare systems that care for underserved populations with type 2 diabetes to identify, design, and implement evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes for these patients. I have other scholarly responsibilities, such as research publications and dissemination, and peer review activities. I also teach undergraduate nursing course on ethics for healthcare professionals, culture and health and provide research practicum mentorship.

As a Nurse scientist, I supported research activities aimed at promoting equitable access to surgical care in South Africa and our collaborating countries, including Rwanda and Ghana, while acquiring the skills needed to further my career in global health. I conceptualized research studies, implemented them, collected and analyzed data and disseminated them at scientific and academic gatherings.

As a registered nurse at this medical facility, offering general medical care and specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, I provided holistic patient care, monitored vital signs, provided health education and counseling, administered medications and injections, and provided pre-operative preparations. I ensured that all nursing care provided was accurately documented.

During this work experience, I worked at the Medical outpatient department, the female medical ward, and the Labour room.
