Work History

Deputy I

Pima County Sheriff S Department
01.2021 - Current

I began my career as a Deputy in training where I completed a 26 week basic law enforcement academy, a 4 week advanced basic academy, and our field training officer program. In the basic law enforcement academy I was delegated to be the class president, where I had to communicate information to other deputies in training as well as training staff. My roles as class president also included delegating tasks, making sure work was done in a timely manner and various other leadership roles. At the conclusion of the basic law enforcement class I was awarded the Timothy Graham Award to recognize my outstanding achievement and leadership. While working as a deputy I, I have been responsible for handling multiple different types of criminal cases to include domestic violence, assaults, theft, armed robbery, burglary D.U.I, and multiple other types of investigations. I have also been proactive in enforcing and preventing crime, from conducting traffic stops to working alongside fellows deputies to build cases on lower level narcotic dealers. I have been tasked with being the acting supervisor throughout my career, where I had to delegate tasks, take advisories from deputies, make advisories to supervisors, and make leadership decisions. These roles continue into my normal patrol duties as a senior deputy. I am also a Field Training Officer (FTO) where I teach the new Deputies how to do patrol functions while observing and grading the new deputy on their accomplishments and areas of improvement. With all of these responsibilities I also teach classes at the academy to include Chapter 27/28, Foot pursuits and role playing/evaluating on various other topics. I have taught classes both alone and along side my peers working together to insure the material is clear and taught in a timely manner. In my time as a deputy I have been awarded two Sheriff's Commendation Certificates and a Public Safety Achievement Medal recognizing life saving measures and my dedication to the safety of the citizens of Pima County.

Correctional Officer

Pima County Sheriff S Department
08.2018 - 01.2021

As a Corrections Officer I was tasked with observing and supervising inmates while being firm, fair and consistent with the rules set for the inmates. I conducted headcounts and assured that inmates where fed in a timely manner. I responded to different types of emergencies from staff assaults, inmate assaults and medical emergencies. In a professional manner I had to work along side other Corrections Officers to stop the emergency or render aid until paramedics could arrive. Through each rotation I was tasked with different assignments some of which I was responsible for pods that had protected inmates that had to be separated from general population, our mental health unit where I assisted in watching over inmates with different levels of mental health issues and escorting inmates from one place to another assuring they did not attempt to escape custody while in transit. I was respected by fellow staff as well as inmates for my work ethics, respectfulness and dedication.
