  • Started out in the Cleveland office of McKinsey in 1981 as their sole Word Processing operator, eventually worked my way to executive assistant supporting several senior partners and directors over my career, before moving into management
  • First, managing the Midwest region of Executive Assistants, including (Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minneapolis and Chicago)
  • Moved several times during my career at McKinsey for various positions
  • While I was an Executive Assistant, was also part of the core conference planning team for the Firm, traveling to support and help organize partner conferences and special events in over 15 countries
  • Was asked to move to the Tampa Bay area in 2010 to manage the newly opened shared service center
  • Successfully grew the staff from our initial opening numbers of 30 to 300 employees by the time I retired
  • Retired in 2015 only to return to the Firm in 2018 to work behind the scenes as an Event Staffing Manager (I pulled from a team of 40 Conference Managers across the globe) and assigned as needed to various conferences around the world, based on their availability and skill

Accomplishments

  • Successfully managed administrative assistant staff in various locations (Cleveland, San Francisco, Chicago) before being tapped to come to Saint Petersburg, Florida to help open (including hiring and training our first group of shared-service center employees in 2010 - McKinsey’s first shared service center).
  • Provided remote support for our partners and consultants across the globe.
  • Worked with local government on incentives, and designers once location was determined (from soup to nuts).
  • Was eventually asked to stay and manage the location.
