My role as a carpenter in baker concrete was to make sure our forms are stable are durable ready for concrete pours. This role followed along with Cutting, assembling, and fastening plywood, or steel forms for foundations, walls, columns, and slabs. Ensuring all forms are plumb, level, and perfectly positioned, using lasers or string lines. Installing form ties, braces, and walers to ensure the structure can withstand the massive pressure of wet concrete, Installing anchor rods, and spraying the inside of forms with oil to prevent the concrete from sticking. stripping the forms once the concrete has set, and cleaning them for reuse in the next project.
Work along side the concrete and carpentry crews staying productive keeping an eye for anything that needs to be done to help out the finishers and carpenters including, bringing material to work area, keeping a clean work space, making sure no one crosses are red rope while working is in process, making sure we have all tools necessary for the job along with setting up light if work area is to dark and making sure batteries are always charged and ready for use. Digging/grading, helping with measuring and cuts, chipping and cutting concrete pulling concrete with squared shovel or concrete rake.
Assisted in preparing shotcrete surfaces to achieve optimal conditions for final finishes. Utilized hand tools to shape and smooth shotcrete for structural features. Removed excess concrete to ensure proper grading and thickness of pool shells. Supported setup and maintenance of shotcrete equipment before and after application. Aided nozzleman by managing hoses and clearing debris from work areas.
