Work History

Group Tour Leader

Globus
08.2025 - 05.2026
  • I am currently set to lead a 11 day Peru and Amazon tour in on May 6th, 2026.

Group Tour Leader

Globus
05.2024 - 05.2025
  • I was set to lead a biblical tour of Israel through Globus on May 17-29 of 2024. As you know, October 7th, 2023 changed all of that. My clients still want to go, and I could have about 20 persons interested, if the war ever ends!

Group Tour Leader

Globus/Cosmos
09.2024 - 09.2024
  • In September of 2024, I led a group of 16 on a Classic Greece with Aegean Sea cruise. Several of these clients were return passengers. The bus tour of the country was fast-paced, but great. Once again, I dealt with the client's minor issues and the fast pace of the tour. I worked closely with our tour director and kept her job less complicated. The Aegean cruise leg of the tour was marvelous!

Group Travel Leader

Globus Family Of Brands
04.2021 - 04.2022
  • On August 12th, 2022 I led a group of 18 brave souls on a 12 day Kenya-Tanzania safari, through Cosmos. I recruited all the clients myself, and obtained their visas and other necessary travel documentation. I worked closely with the local safari tour directors for both countries, and networked with other Globus Travel Leaders afterwards to assist them in planning their own safaris. My clients later posted that this was "a trip of a lifetime" for them. I plan another safari in the next couple of years!
  • As in prior trips, I had my share of travel glitches with lost baggage, flight mix-ups, and personality conflicts. My prior experience in law enforcement with conflict resolution helped me keep the trip on track and everyone happy.
  • As an extra bonus for my clients, I provided everyone with a complimentary thumb drive, which contained all of the photos taken by everyone in the group ofThey absolutely loved it!red. They asolutely loved it!

Group Tour Leader

Globus Family Of Brands
  • My first Avalon Waterways tour (as Group Leader) through Globus was for a Rhine river cruise. I recruited clients prior to the original travel date of April 1, 2021, and I planned and organized the trip with a Globus agent. Then COVID happened, and the trip was canceled. I kept up the entusiasm for this trip through regular contacts with my target group, and managed to lead the same, "Rhiune Reimagined Tour" in April of 2022.

Leading Tours

Independant
01.1985 - 01.2019
  • Prior to working with Globus/Avalon Waterways, I began leading SCUBA vacation trips in the late 1980s to Cozumel, Mexico. I was a SCUBA instructor at the time, and I was working through The Dive Shop of Santa Maria, California. I planned and led groups of up to 16 divers on two of these trips.
  • Beginning in 2008, I organized, planned, and led three Baja Mexico trips from San Felipe, BC to Baja Sur (Southern Baja Penninsula). These trips were offered to members of the San Felipe Scorpion 4x4 group. I networked with multiple Mexican hotels and resorts to plan these excursions. The largest one was a 40-person trip from San Felipe to the Copper Canyon region (Sinaloa) of mainland Mexico. in 2018. Despite travelling in drug cartel territory, everyone had a fabulous time.

Law Enforcement Officer/invesigator, manager

Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department
Santa Barbara
08.1975 - 04.2005
  • I began my law enforcement career with the Ontario Police Department in Southern California, in 1974. After working there for four years, I transferred to the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department, where I worked until April of 2005, when I retired. During my career, I worked on patrol, as a criminal investigator (17 years), as a sergeant, and as a lieutenant. I supervised the Major Crimes Unit of the Sheriff's Office, and later (as a lieutenant) commanded two sheriff stations in the county. I ran a six million dollar budget as Chief of the Solvang Police Department (a sheriff contract city)
  • My experience in dealing with people, good and bad, has given me the talent to relate to virtually anyone. My thirst for life's experience has fanned the fire of my quest to see the world, and to share it with others. It has become my passion.
  • My mantra is, "If you don't have a good time, neither do I.."
