Work History

Senior Wire Harness Design Enginer

Nikola Motor Company
06.2020 - Current
  • Lead the development of low voltage wire harness routing in dry area (cabin) in 3DExperience. Worked directly with harness supplier and internal cross-functional teams to achieve a production design.
  • Designed and released 2D drawings of harnesses in Capital HarnessXC defining the appropriate electrical sub-components, protections and detailing special instructions to harness supplier.
  • DRE of main cabin fuse box and electrical diagram label.
  • Established development of chassis harnesses installation drawings to manufacturing for TRE BEV launch.
  • Assisted first builds of prototype vehicles doing hands-on work on harnesses (either adding splices, cutting/adding wires, crimping and installing harnesses with appropriate fixing elements).
  • Helped launch of Nikola TRE BEV and FCEV at many production line stations.
  • Developed entire 3D and 2D special automotive ethernet and coaxial cables for prototypes purposes.
  • Created a full-parametric design of HV cables (from 4mm2 to 120mm2 sizes) and released 2D drawings.
  • Ensure all HV cables had their required strain relief and fixation points at the right spot with right heavy duty attachment elements. Worked with cross-functional teams to achieve this.
  • Responsible of creating a Library/Catalog of all LV harness and HV Cables subcomponents.

Engineering Intern, Quality

Honeywell Aerospace
01.2020 - 03.2020
  • Created FAIR’s (First Article Inspection Report) of heat exchanger parts and submitting all these reports in Team Center
  • Created markups of old part's drawing in order to recreate them.

Education

Bachelor of Science - Aerospace Engineering

Universidad Autonoma De Baja California
Mexicali
06-2020

Skills

  • 2D and 3D modeling
  • CATIA V5/V6/3DExperience (Electrical 3D Design, Electrical Part Design, Part Design, Assembly Design, Drafting, Generative Structural Analysis, Generative Shape Design, Collaborative Lifecycle, Sheet Metal Design, DMU Kinematics, Classification Manager)
  • Enovia
  • Capital HarnessXC
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Prototype development
  • Design optimization
  • Cross-functional collaboration

Accomplishments

  • Collaborated with structures team to reduce cost of HV cable retention points by using heavy duty fasteners instead of complex bracket designs.
  • Implemented an autonomous method of 3D harness design by creating links and interfaces between connector-to-device and cable-to-retention points, saving 20% of work effort time .
  • Reduced costs of LV harnesses by removing unnecessary harness protection and excess of inline connectors, as well as replacing connectors with "greater features" than required.

Certification

  • HV level 3 (Energizing and De-energizing vehicle)
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
  • CATIA V5 - Wire Harness Assembly and High Voltage Design
  • Automotive Electrical Diagnosis (Intermediate)
