Correctional Officer with history of exercising sound judgment and reasoned thinking during crisis events. Develops strong rapport with prisoners and colleagues. Excellent command of detention center safety, security and emergency management protocols.
I served three years in the United States Army where I worked as a Correctional Specialist. My MOS was a 31E. I spent my first year in Guantanamo Bay Cuba where I was working in a joint operation with multiple branches to run detainee operations overseas. I cannot speak about my day-to-day operations there, but the main objective of my job was custody and control of all detainees and foreign personnel there. While in Cuba I received an Army Achievement Medal and was also able to receive a top-secret clearance. After my time in Guantanamo Bay, I was stationed in Fort Leavenworth Kansas where I continued to work as a Correctional Specialist in the Joint Regional Correctional Facility. My day-to-day operations there were custody and control of inmates in the dining facility. My job also involved me being aware of inmate placement as well as sensitive items that had to be passed out and accounted for daily, for examples knives, serving spoons and various other items that were essential to day-to-day operations. I have also worked with inmates that were responsible for leaving the facility to work on the landscaping of the facility and the nearby areas.
I worked for Porter Distributing as a delivery person. My day-to-day task would be to receive products and then load and deliver them to our customers. In my second year at being with this company, I was able to start selling products and processing my own orders. This involved me having to travel to different cities and interacting with diverse groups of people throughout the day.
