Michael Duressa

As a Medical Imaging Assistant (MIA), I worked in the medical imaging/radiology department, which included CT and MRI. My framework mainly involves:

• Assisting technologists in preparing patients for imaging procedures, ensuring comfort and clarity.
• Coordinating patient scheduling and managed intake processes to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Educating patients about procedures and answered questions to alleviate concerns and enhance experience.
• Strengthening patient trust with compassionate communication and attentive listening during pre-imaging preparations.
• Improving team communication by effectively relaying pertinent information regarding patient history, symptoms, and procedure requirements to radiologists and technicians, as well as consistent communication regarding patient care with nurses and physicians.
• Maintained cleanliness and organization of imaging equipment and workspace to uphold safety standards.

• As an online Teaching Assistant at ASU, I support both students and faculty by facilitating virtual discussions, answering questions, and helping clarify course concepts. I assist with grading assignments and provide feedback to ensure students stay on track academically. I also collaborate closely with course director David Larson, EdDc, MBA, MS, CESC, to prepare materials and run an interactive, supportive learning environment within the online classroom.

• As a clinical observer at Banner Estrella Medical Center, I shadowed a hospitalist to gain firsthand insight into inpatient care, interdisciplinary collaborations, and hospital operations. I observed patient rounds, care planning discussions, and the coordination between healthcare providers and support staff. This experience deepened my understanding of acute care workflows and reinforced my commitment to pursuing a patient-centered healthcare career.
