Application for Pilot Training Program – Mikhail Varfolomeev
I grew up in Ulyanovsk—a city known as Russia’s aviation center, where cargo planes are built and the Civil Aviation University trains future professionals. My interest in aviation started early, watching aircraft fill our skies and learning about airport operations. At 17, I joined the university, where I studied airport systems and made lifelong friends who also attached to the industry and shared my passion. After graduating, I worked in the fuel department at my hometown airport, gaining hands-on experience with aircraft operations and safety standards. It gave me view from inside of the industry and basement for my knowledge.
But something called me. I wanted to explore beyond my home country, to taste the world, to feel it. So I moved abroad, starting as a waiter—a role that taught me resilience and how to work under pressure. Later, I became cabin crew, where I deepened my understanding of aircraft structures, features, safety procedures, and teamwork in the air. Today, after years of learning from every corner of aviation—from fueling planes to serving passengers mid-flight—I courage enough to take the next step: training to become a pilot. My journey has given me both technical knowledge and the calm focus needed in the cockpit, and I am eager to bring this experience to your program.
Sincerely,
Mikhail Varfolomeev
