Sammy Juarez

My role consists of running a mountain as the supervisor. I also plan and execute the daily or weekly mine plan to the best of my ability. I’m responsible for making sure my shovels are productive and maintain the best possible set up throughout the shift. I collaborate with other departments to make sure we are all on the same page with executing the mine plan. I plan re routes for shovels. I look for any opportunity to move haul roads over to help drilling gain the room they need. I also assist every supervisor on my crew with whatever they may need.

• As an opt tech trainee I learned how the day to day business works out here. I was trained how to read and understand the mine plan. I learned how to move shovels and bridges. I learned how to lay cable routes out for the shovels. I also had a chance to go into the command center and dispatch. There I learned how to keep the trucks efficient and flowing between shovels,crushers and dumps. I learned how to understand mine graphics and fix bad areas to improve delta C. I also learned how to do park up and get every truck parked at the end of shift efficiently. I sat in seat one and learned how to get a shift started and maintain a shift with learning how to keep steady flows to the crushers and dumps by dig rates on the shovels. Watching for stacking and making adjustments accordingly. Also being a good wing man so to speak with the other two dispatchers. I have about 5 years of dispatching experience. I feel I am an asset in the command center or in the field. I have pride in every job I’m tasked with.

• Operating a 793 cat haul truck. I was a lead mentor for about 3 years and trained countless people how to operate a haul truck. I learned how to operate our simulator and trained operators on that as well. During that time I was also the 15-0 responsible for getting operators to and from their haul trucks. I made sure I was efficient in getting spare trucks covered. In constant contact with the command center so I didn’t miss anything.
