• Performs tissue sectioning and Immunohistochemistry staining of paraffin, or fresh frozen tissue according to instructions daily. Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling. Cuts, prepares, and stains slides from histology specimens. Routinely checks and verifies that surgical case numbers match vials and slides, prints labels as appropriate.
• Grossing biopsies and small specimens. Performs gross tissue examination and must meet personnel qualifications set forth by the 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489 and the policies and procedures outlined in the department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Keeps workflow moving and assists with workflow on the manual staining process.
• Monitors inventory levels for control tissue and build in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Records in laboratory LIMS daily (Salesforce). Logs appropriate information into the laboratory computer system (Salesforce).
• Maintains laboratory equipment in proper working order, following appropriate laboratory safety protocols.
• Prepares and maintains working solutions of special stains (H&E and Congo Red), including maintaining acceptable working volumes.
• Handles, prepares, and uploads manual stainer; conducts dehydrating and cover slips slides utilizing manual systems.
• Prepares, cleans, maintains, and shuts down laboratory equipment & accessories used in a daily and weekly manner.
• Follows the laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing of Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence.
• Performs and documents proficiency testing (PT) samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Demonstrates capability of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and must either correct the problems or immediately notify the Laboratory Director.
• Documents all corrective action (Issue Review and CAPA system) taken when a test system deviates from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Reports all concerns of test quality and/or patient safety to Laboratory Director.
• Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects to support Senior Biomedical engineer as required.
• Maintains tissue inventories and discards residual tissue specimens at appropriate intervals and maintains up-to-date inventories and records relating to tissues.
• Troubleshoots assays and all related instrumentation. Maintains and revises as needed all related technical policies and procedures including instrument/equipment maintenance by maintaining equipment quality control and preventive maintenance.
• Accepts other duties as assigned, such as, R&D projects and Antibody Optimization.

• Open packages and video receipt of all incoming specimens for clinical processing.
• Creates and manages patient cases including the setting up of new cases, updating current cases,

entering of specimens in case, attaching relevant documents, Quality Control checking

information for accuracy and other case management tasks.

• Opens and closes specimen and case discrepancies to ensure accurate information and processing

of specimens in a timely fashion.

• Work cross-functionally with various departments including Client Services, IHC, PAs,

Pathologists and Reporting.

• Responsible for filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.
• Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling of all

materials. Routinely checks and verifies accuracy of all information in laboratory information

system.

• Records in laboratory logs all specimens prepared. Logs appropriate information into the

laboratory information system.

• Responsible for Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) for all cases, specimens and

documentation.

• Maintains Supply Inventory, including package receiving and supply chain requests, and

submitting orders to Purchasing department, in accordance with established policies and

procedures.

• Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects to support the laboratory as

required.

• Receive specimens, enter specimens data into the laboratory information system (LIS), prepare

specimens for laboratory analysis, and stores specimens per laboratory policy.

• Receive laboratory specimens and check against the requisition for accuracy. Ensure that the

labels on the specimens coincide with the information provided on the requisition.

• Check specimens for acceptance or rejection criteria according to policy.
• Label and track prepared specimens in accordance with lab policy.
• Ensure that each process of specimen preparation is documented in accordance with the lab’s

policy.

• Handle hazardous waste management activities in accordance with policies, protocols, and

regulatory standards.

• Ensure proper storage of specimens in the appropriate storage areas.
• Document and report any issues that may have arisen during the intake or preparation process.
• Communicate appropriately with supervisor and staff to inform of any rejections or problems

encountered during specimen processing

• Preparing batches of work by extracting checks and remittances from envelopes
• Inputting data into the system while following standard operating procedures
• Re-associating check images to corresponding material while validating quality of images
• Verifying negotiability of checks through customer specific instructions for processing
• Working in all areas/departments of production as needed and contributing to meeting team goals
• Making judgment calls regarding routine duties, but refer non-routine situations to a supervisor

and/or manager

• Transport patients safely and efficiently between various departments following appropriate
• techniques and proper isolation/infection control procedures. Validates patients’ identity

based on established department protocol. Remains alert to patient condition and promptly

communicates changes to clinical staff.

• Responsible for the timely delivery of services with a strong focus on customer service with staff,

physicians, patients, family members and visitors.

• Responsible to all job calls in a timely manner. Utilized computer systems to track and update

requests. Communicates status updates and location information as required in accordance with

department protocols to help facilitate workflow.

• Assists with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment and

appropriate safety procedures. At times required to transport deceased persons to the facility

morgue.
